Saint Kitts and Nevis’ political landscape is entering a potentially important new phase as the People’s Action Movement (PAM) prepares to elect its next political leader on September 1, 2026.

The opposition party has scheduled a Special Caucus to select its sixth political leader following the resignation of Natasha Grey-Brookes, which became effective on July 31.

PAM opened nominations on August 12, with the nomination period closing on August 25. The party said the leadership position was open to members in good standing who met its established requirements.

Grey-Brookes said her resignation was a strategic decision that would allow her to focus more closely on securing victory in St. Christopher One and supporting PAM’s wider electoral campaign.

The September 1 leadership vote could therefore become a significant moment for PAM as it seeks to strengthen its organisation and define its political direction ahead of the next general election.

The party has not publicly confirmed the full field of contenders, making the upcoming caucus one of the most closely watched developments in Saint Kitts and Nevis politics.
