A fatal maritime collision in the Turks and Caicos Islands has claimed the life of a 43-year-old man and left four other people requiring medical treatment, prompting renewed calls for caution on the water.
The Royal Turks and Caicos Islands Police Force (RTCIPF) said emergency services responded at approximately 8:35 p.m. on Friday, October 16, 2026, after reports of a collision in the channel between Dellis Cay and Parrot Cay.
Police said six people were aboard a vessel travelling from Belfield Landing to Providenciales when it collided with a Parrot Cay service boat. The man who died was identified as Paul Harvey, 43. Four other people were transported to Cheshire Hall Medical Centre for treatment.
The circumstances surrounding the collision remain under investigation. Authorities have not yet publicly provided a full account of what led to the incident.
Following the tragedy, police urged boat captains and other vessel operators to exercise greater vigilance, particularly when visibility is reduced or marine traffic is heavy. Operators were reminded to maintain a proper lookout and navigate responsibly.
The collision has renewed attention on boating safety across the Turks and Caicos Islands, where residents, workers and visitors regularly travel between islands and coastal communities by sea.
Police investigations are continuing, and further information may be released as the circumstances become clearer.
