Dominica’s Ti Vilaj Kwéyòl is going ahead as planned, with officials firmly rejecting social media rumours that the popular cultural event had been cancelled.

Gloria Joseph, Permanent Secretary in the Ministry for Small Business Development, reassured the public on October 16 that the fifth edition of Ti Vilaj Kwéyòl — “Tout Biten Domnik” — will run from October 19 to 22, 2026. She urged residents and visitors to attend and support the event. <Cite refs={["turn612365search10"]}/>

The announcement comes as organisers prepare for the showcase, which celebrates Dominican Creole identity, local enterprise, traditional food, crafts and cultural heritage ahead of the World Creole Music Festival.

More than 90 entrepreneurs are expected to display their products and talents, giving local vendors, artisans and small businesses an opportunity to reach customers and showcase Dominican-made goods.

Joseph described the event as an important platform for celebrating the island’s heritage while supporting entrepreneurship and community participation. Her statement was intended to counter misleading claims circulating online and reassure vendors and visitors making plans to attend.

Officials are urging the public to rely on verified announcements and continue supporting the event. With opening day approaching, Ti Vilaj Kwéyòl is expected to bring together entrepreneurs, residents and visitors for four days of Dominican culture and commerce.
