Eight aspiring entrepreneurs in Dominica have presented their business proposals to a panel of judges, bringing the 2026 Business Plan Innovation Award closer to its final results.

Organised by the Dominica Youth Business Trust (DYBT), the competition aims to help young Dominican entrepreneurs turn promising ideas into viable businesses. Participants pitched their proposals and outlined the potential of their ventures as they competed for top honours.

The eight participants are Jerwin Lavile, Jarah Jno Baptiste, Romello Rodney, Lisa Ernest, Leonnie Gorden, Martel Daniel, Nyla Baptiste and Ellyon Bellot. Their proposals are being assessed by a judging panel, with attention to the quality and potential of their business concepts.

The award programme encourages participants to think beyond an idea by developing a business plan that can help guide future operations and growth. Such preparation can be important for entrepreneurs evaluating their markets, costs, and the practical steps needed to establish a company.

The DYBT has worked to encourage youth entrepreneurship through business development support and initiatives designed to help aspiring owners move toward launching their ventures. The award also highlights the role small businesses can play in expanding economic activity and creating opportunities across Dominica.

The winners of the 2026 Business Plan Innovation Award are expected to be announced during Global Entrepreneurship Week in November.

The competition puts a spotlight on Dominica’s next generation of business owners as they work to turn ideas into sustainable enterprises.
