KINGSTOWN, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines — North Windward has been crowned champion of the Saint Vincent and the Grenadines Cricket Association's Under-15 Zonal Tournament after a convincing five-wicket victory over North Central Windward.

North Central Windward was dismissed for 72 runs from 20 overs in the final at the London Playing Field. North Windward then reached 73 for five in just 11 overs to secure the championship.

Tarique Pollard led North Windward's chase with 17 runs, while Amar Lavia scored 13 and Amarlie Lavia added 11. Jamel Baptiste was among the leading bowlers, taking three wickets for eight runs.

The tournament also highlighted the individual talent emerging from SVG's youth cricket programme. Amar Lavia finished as the tournament's leading run-scorer with 125 runs and was named Most Valuable Player, while also contributing five wickets.

Jemel Baptiste claimed the Most Wickets award with nine dismissals, while Amarlie Lavia was recognised as the tournament's Best Wicketkeeper.

The performances could prove important for the future of Vincentian cricket, with SVGCA selectors expected to name a 24-member squad for continued training ahead of the Windward Islands Under-15 Tournament scheduled for December 2026.

The championship therefore represents more than a youth title, providing another opportunity to identify and develop the next generation of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines cricket talent.
