GEORGE TOWN, Cayman Islands — The Cayman Islands tourism sector is continuing its strong performance in 2026, with overnight visitor arrivals reaching a record level during the first seven months of the year.

Between January and July, the territory welcomed 333,747 stay-over visitors, representing an 11% increase compared with the same period in 2025. The sustained growth has extended a positive trend for the local tourism industry.

The increase is providing important momentum for Cayman Islands businesses that depend on international visitors, including hotels, restaurants, tour operators, transportation companies and retail businesses.

July was particularly notable because, while it did not produce the highest visitor total ever recorded for that month, it represented the strongest July since 2019, before the COVID-19 pandemic disrupted international tourism.

At the same time, cruise tourism has performed differently. Cayman recorded 43,380 cruise passengers in July, a decline compared with July 2025.

The strong stay-over market nevertheless provides a major boost to Cayman’s wider economy, as overnight visitors typically generate demand across accommodation, dining, transportation, entertainment and other tourism-related services.

The latest figures reinforce the importance of tourism alongside financial services as one of the Cayman Islands' major economic pillars.

With visitor demand continuing to rise, local businesses are entering the latter part of 2026 with strong tourism momentum and increased opportunities to benefit from international spending.
