Bermuda is strengthening its profile as an international private-wealth destination after hosting a family office retreat that brought global wealth-management leaders, advisers and industry experts to the island.
The two-day Prestel & Partner Family Office Retreat took place on October 16–17 at The Loren Residence. The Bermuda Business Development Agency (BDA) supported the gathering as Platinum Sponsor, helping connect visiting participants with Bermuda’s financial and professional services sector.
The programme explored issues facing families managing substantial assets across borders, including estate planning, succession strategies, family governance, banking arrangements and wealth preservation. Sessions also addressed the relationship between financial decisions, family relationships and personal wellbeing.
Participants heard from professionals associated with Appleby, Textor Capital and Bermuda Commercial Bank, giving attendees opportunities to discuss cross-border estate planning, trust structures and the practical challenges of managing international assets and businesses.
For Bermuda, events of this kind offer an opportunity to showcase local expertise in private wealth, banking, trusts, legal services and asset management. Bringing international decision-makers to the island also allows them to meet local professionals directly and assess the jurisdiction beyond its reputation and financial regulations.
The BDA said the retreat formed part of its continuing engagement with Prestel & Partner. Organisers confirmed that the next Bermuda retreat is scheduled for October 22–23, 2027, indicating plans to continue the relationship.
The event gives Bermuda another platform to build international relationships in private wealth and financial services. While no specific investment commitments were announced, continued engagement with family offices could create future opportunities for the island’s professional-services businesses.
