Antigua and Barbuda police have charged a 26-year-old Piggotts man with firearm and ammunition offences following a police operation in the Villa area. The development was announced on August 25, 2026, and the accused was expected to appear in court on August 26.

Police said officers from several units, including the Criminal Investigations Department Task Force, St. John’s Police Station, Freetown Police Station, Special Services Unit and Narcotics Department, conducted an operation in Villa on August 23.

According to police, officers stopped and searched a motor truck driven by the man and found a black crossbody bag containing a firearm, magazine and seven rounds of ammunition. The items were seized and the suspect was taken into custody.

He was subsequently charged with unlawful possession of a Browning .25 semi-automatic pistol and unlawful possession of seven rounds of ammunition.

The case adds to ongoing police efforts to tackle illegal firearms and strengthen public safety across Antigua and Barbuda.
