BRADES, Montserrat — The latest monitoring report from the Montserrat Volcano Observatory (MVO) says activity at the Soufrière Hills Volcano remains low, providing an important update for residents and visitors on the island.

For the period September 4 to 11, 2026, the MVO seismic network recorded 21 volcano-tectonic earthquakes. The observatory continues to monitor the volcano and its surrounding area as part of Montserrat’s ongoing volcanic hazard surveillance programme.

The latest assessment comes amid continued scientific monitoring of the Soufrière Hills Volcano, whose past eruptions significantly affected southern Montserrat.

The MVO's regular reports provide residents, authorities and emergency-management agencies with updated information on seismic activity and volcanic conditions.

For now, the latest assessment indicates low volcanic activity, while monitoring continues.
