The British Virgin Islands has opened its first Entrepreneurial Zone and business incubator in Huntums Ghut, creating new opportunities for local entrepreneurs and small businesses.

The facility provides affordable commercial spaces, business training, mentorship and development support for startups and growing companies. Eight business owners received keys during the September 11 opening ceremony, forming part of the first group of nine entrepreneurs approved for the programme.

The initiative is designed to help entrepreneurs strengthen their operations before moving into the wider commercial market. Participants can remain in the incubator for two to four years, while receiving support from the Department of Trade, Investment Promotion and Consumer Affairs.

The government says the Huntums Ghut facility is the first of two buildings planned for the site, with similar entrepreneurial zones also being considered for other communities across the territory.

The new programme adds another layer of support for BVI small businesses, startups and entrepreneurs, with the broader goal of encouraging sustainable local business growth and economic development.
