PORT-AU-PRINCE, Haiti — Haitian football star Melchie Daëlle Dumornay has been nominated for the 2026 Ballon d’Or Féminin, giving Haiti another major moment on the international football stage.

The 23-year-old OL Lyonnes attacker is among the 30 nominees for the prestigious individual award, marking her second consecutive nomination. UEFA’s official list includes Dumornay alongside some of the biggest names in women’s football.

Dumornay enjoyed a standout 2025–26 campaign. Haitian reporting on the Ballon d’Or statistics lists 36 appearances, 21 goals and 12 assists, while she helped Lyon win the French championship, Coupe de France and Coupe de la Ligue.

The nomination continues Dumornay’s rapid rise. She finished 18th in the 2025 Ballon d’Or Féminin voting, becoming the first Haitian player to receive such recognition.

The 2026 Ballon d’Or ceremony will take place in London on October 26, giving Haitian fans another opportunity to follow one of the country’s most prominent football stars.
