POINTE-À-PITRE, Guadeloupe — Guadeloupe’s political landscape is seeing renewed dialogue after Regional Council President Ary Chalus and Senator Victorin Lurel held talks focusing on several major issues affecting the territory.

The two politicians met at the Hôtel de Région for nearly two hours and highlighted areas of political convergence on the economy, water management, taxation and the future institutional development of Guadeloupe.

The meeting comes as Guadeloupe continues to debate long-term solutions to challenges including water infrastructure, economic development and the territory’s relationship with the French state.
