Two Saint Lucian startups have earned recognition among the five highest-scoring business plans at the inaugural Caribbean SEED STEM Startup Challenge in Barbados.

Medial Health Inc. and Rifbid were among 15 companies selected to present their technology-focused business plans after 28 proposals were submitted to the competition.

Medial Health presented “From Paper to Intelligent Care,” an AI-powered health information system designed for Caribbean healthcare systems. The project aims to use artificial intelligence to modernise health information management.

Saint Lucian startup Rifbid presented an AI-powered verification system for public procurement finance, designed to help lenders, financial institutions and other users verify important records directly from source portals.

The projects were assessed on areas including technical feasibility, global competitiveness, financing strategy, intellectual property and go-to-market potential. The recognition gives the two Saint Lucian companies additional regional exposure as Caribbean entrepreneurs develop technology-based businesses.
