Sports authorities announced investments in athlete development centres, coaching education, performance monitoring technology, sports science services, and youth talent identification programs designed to prepare competitors for Caribbean and international sporting events.
Officials emphasized that sustained investment in sports is essential for developing future champions, promoting healthier lifestyles, and strengthening national pride through athletic achievement.
The initiative supports football, cricket, athletics, basketball, volleyball, netball, swimming, sailing, cycling, and other community sports through structured training pathways and expanded grassroots participation.
National sporting organizations welcomed the strategy, highlighting the importance of sports science, nutrition planning, strength and conditioning, recovery programs, injury prevention, and mental performance coaching in helping athletes achieve consistent success.
Schools and community clubs will work alongside national federations to expand youth leagues, inter-school championships, coaching clinics, and athlete scholarship opportunities that encourage long-term sporting excellence.
