The Assembly of Martinique is examining the financial situation of the Collectivité Territoriale de Martinique (CTM) during its plenary session on September 24, 2026, following a critical report from the Regional Audit Chamber.

The report says CTM debt, which stood at €977 million at the end of 2024, could exceed €1 billion in 2026. It also identified declining self-financing capacity and lengthy payment delays.

The CTM executive has outlined measures aimed at reducing borrowing and refocusing investment. The 2026 borrowing authorization has been reduced from €165 million to €109.8 million, while the current financing campaign is capped at €80 million.

The two-day Assembly session is expected to give elected officials an opportunity to debate the audit findings and the executive's proposed response. Opposition councillors have also raised questions about financial transparency and access to information.
