PORT-AU-PRINCE, Haiti — Haiti has introduced a National High-Performance Sports Academy aimed at enhancing elite athlete preparation through world-class coaching, advanced sports science, and modern training facilities.

Government officials, national sports federations, coaches, sports scientists, and education partners announced investments in biomechanics laboratories, AI-powered performance analysis, recovery centres, nutrition programmes, strength and conditioning facilities, and youth talent identification systems.

Officials emphasized that investing in high-performance sports infrastructure will strengthen Haiti's international competitiveness while creating new opportunities for young athletes across the country.

The academy will provide specialized training in athletics, football, basketball, volleyball, and other Olympic disciplines, alongside sports medicine services, injury prevention programmes, mental performance coaching, and coach education initiatives.

Sports scientists welcomed the project, highlighting the integration of wearable technology, motion analysis systems, and personalized training programmes that help athletes maximize performance while reducing injury risks.

National coaches praised the initiative for expanding access to professional coaching resources and creating a structured pathway for talented athletes to compete at higher levels.

Educational institutions also welcomed partnerships supporting scholarships, research in sports science, and career development opportunities for students pursuing athletics and sports management.

Community organizations described the academy as an important investment that promotes healthy lifestyles, youth participation in sports, and national sporting excellence.

Officials confirmed that additional international partnerships, regional competitions, and athlete development programmes will continue throughout future implementation phases.
