Grenada’s Under-23 volleyball team has made history by representing the country for the first time at the NORCECA U-23 Copa America Championships in El Salvador.

The Grenadian squad departed the island on September 20 to compete in the tournament, which runs from September 20 to 28, 2026. The competition brings together young volleyball players from across the region and provides Grenada’s athletes with international experience.

The team is led by Head Coach Dan Girleanu, with Jerron Phillip serving as assistant coach. Grenada’s Ministry of Youth and Sports said participation at the championship forms part of efforts to create greater opportunities for young athletes through training and international competition.

The historic appearance gives Grenada’s emerging volleyball players an opportunity to test themselves against established regional programmes while gaining experience that could support the continued development of the sport at home.
