VILLA CLARA, Cuba — The Martí Pediatric Hospital in Villa Clara has received a new financial contribution aimed at supporting children receiving medical care, providing fresh assistance to Cuba’s healthcare sector.

The Friends of Cuba Society in Antigua and Barbuda donated EC$33,600, equivalent to approximately US$33,600, to support pediatric healthcare at the hospital.

The contribution comes as Cuban hospitals continue facing shortages of medicines, supplies and other essential healthcare resources.

Support for pediatric facilities is particularly significant because hospitals treating children require reliable access to medicines, equipment and specialised services.

The donation also highlights the continuing role of international solidarity and community organisations in supporting Cuba’s public healthcare system.

For the Martí Pediatric Hospital, the contribution can provide additional resources for patient care and help address some of the pressures affecting medical services.

International assistance has become increasingly important as Cuba’s healthcare system faces severe resource constraints and disruption caused by shortages of fuel, electricity and medical supplies.

The initiative also strengthens healthcare links between Cuba and Caribbean communities, particularly Antigua and Barbuda, which has maintained longstanding connections with Cuba.

The latest donation demonstrates how regional partnerships can provide practical support to vulnerable patients while Cuba works to maintain essential pediatric services.
