PARAMARIBO, Suriname — Blue Water Shipping Suriname has secured a major three-year contract with international drilling contractor Noble Corporation, marking another important development for Suriname's growing offshore oil and gas sector.
Under the agreement, Blue Water Shipping Suriname will manage logistics and supply-chain activities supporting Noble's offshore operations off the Surinamese coast.
The contract represents a significant opportunity for a Surinamese-based business to participate directly in the rapidly developing offshore energy industry. Blue Water Shipping Suriname director Gerson Sporkslede welcomed the agreement, describing the partnership as an important responsibility for the company.
The deal highlights the growing demand for local logistics, transportation and supply-chain services as offshore activity expands around Suriname.
For local businesses, the development could provide opportunities to become part of the wider oil-and-gas support network, particularly in areas such as logistics, marine services, warehousing, transportation and other specialized services.
The agreement also reinforces Suriname's emerging position in the regional offshore energy market as international companies prepare for increased activity in the country's waters.
The three-year contract is therefore being viewed as a positive signal for Suriname's private sector and the country's developing offshore economy.
