Bermuda is placing a stronger spotlight on youth entrepreneurship and small-business development, with young innovators and emerging business leaders recently taking centre stage at a dedicated entrepreneur expo.

The Youth Entrepreneur Expo, organised through the Office of Youth Affairs, was held on August 15 at the City Hall Front Lawn, bringing together young entrepreneurs, creators and members of the public.

The event provided an opportunity for young Bermudians to showcase their business ideas, products and entrepreneurial projects, while encouraging greater interest in business ownership among the next generation.

Youth entrepreneurship is an important part of Bermuda’s broader economic-development strategy, which includes efforts to strengthen the pipeline of Bermudian-owned enterprises and startups. Government economic-development initiatives have also focused on improving access to capital, advisory services and entrepreneurship support.

Supporting young business owners could help Bermuda build a more diverse and resilient local economy, particularly as new entrepreneurs enter technology, creative industries, professional services and other emerging sectors.

The expo also provides a timely reminder that Bermuda’s future business growth will depend not only on international companies, but on the development of home-grown entrepreneurs and innovative local businesses.
