BRIDGETOWN, Barbados — Barbadians are being offered greater access to preventative healthcare screenings through a new partnership between Bayview Urgent Care and RUBIS.

The initiative provides discounted basic health-screening packages to RUBIS corporate and retail customers, with the programme designed to encourage people to check their health before serious problems develop.

The partnership places early detection at the centre of efforts to tackle chronic diseases in Barbados.

The basic package includes urinalysis, blood sugar and cholesterol testing, along with a full physical examination and consultation.

Additional tests, including PSA testing, full blood counts, ECGs, digital mammograms and CT calcium scoring, may also be available when medically appropriate.

Bayview Urgent Care said the initiative is particularly important as conditions such as diabetes and hypertension continue to affect communities.

For uninsured Barbadians and people who may delay routine check-ups because of cost, discounted screening services could provide an additional incentive to seek medical attention earlier.

The partnership also reflects a growing emphasis on prevention rather than waiting until patients require urgent treatment.

RUBIS described the programme as part of its community commitment, while Bayview highlighted the importance of making routine healthcare more accessible.

Early diagnosis can help patients and healthcare providers manage chronic conditions before they become more serious.

The initiative adds another private-sector contribution to Barbados’ wider effort to improve health awareness, prevention and access to medical services.
