NASSAU, The Bahamas — The Bahamas has unveiled a new national sports initiative focused on establishing a state-of-the-art Aquatics Excellence Centre that will support elite swimmer development, sports science, and advanced coaching programs.
Sports authorities announced investments in Olympic-standard training pools, underwater performance analysis systems, strength and conditioning facilities, recovery centers, nutrition support, and digital athlete performance monitoring.
Officials stated that expanding world-class sports infrastructure is essential for helping Bahamian athletes compete successfully on the regional and international stage while encouraging greater youth participation in competitive sports.
The centre will support swimming, open-water racing, triathlon preparation, water safety education, adaptive aquatic sports, and youth talent identification programs across multiple islands.
National sports federations welcomed the initiative, highlighting the importance of sports medicine, biomechanics, mental performance coaching, and modern training technologies in improving athletic performance.
Schools and community clubs will partner with the facility to expand junior competitions, coaching certification, athlete scholarships, and grassroots sports development.
