ORANJESTAD, Aruba — Aruba has unveiled a new National Beach Sports Excellence Centre aimed at expanding elite athlete development while strengthening the island's reputation as a premier destination for beach sports in the Caribbean.

Government officials, national sports federations, coaches, and community organizations announced that the modern facility includes professional beach volleyball courts, beach soccer training grounds, sports performance laboratories, athlete recovery areas, and digital performance analysis systems.

Officials said the investment represents an important step toward improving athlete performance, expanding youth participation, and preparing competitors for regional and international sporting events.

The centre will host coaching certification programmes, youth development camps, community tournaments, and high-performance training sessions throughout the year.

Sports scientists welcomed the project, highlighting the integration of biomechanics testing, nutrition support, injury prevention programmes, and advanced fitness monitoring technology.

Local coaches believe the facility will create greater opportunities for emerging athletes while encouraging more young people to participate in organized sports and healthy lifestyles.

Tourism representatives also noted that the centre could attract international training camps and regional sporting events, supporting Aruba's sports tourism sector.

Officials confirmed that additional investments in community sports infrastructure and athlete development programmes are planned as part of Aruba's long-term national sports strategy.
