ORANJESTAD, Aruba — Aruba has begun its 2026–2027 seasonal flu vaccination programme, with the Department of Public Health (DVG) announcing that the latest influenza vaccine has arrived on the island.

Starting September 14, people in designated risk groups can receive the vaccine free of charge at the Department of Infectious Diseases on Avicenastraat. The eligible groups include people aged 60 and older, certain adults and children with medical risk conditions, qualifying pregnant women and healthcare workers who have direct contact with patients.

People outside the free-vaccination groups can also purchase the vaccine for AWG 20, subject to the requirements set by DVG. The department said additional neighbourhood vaccination opportunities are also being prepared.

Health officials are encouraging eligible residents to get vaccinated in a timely manner as Aruba enters the new influenza season.

The campaign adds another focus to Aruba's public health and preventive-care efforts, particularly for residents who face a higher risk of complications from influenza.
