LE MOULE, Guadeloupe — Guadeloupe is being placed in the spotlight for a major €100 million energy investment unveiled during the first “Choose Outre-mer” investment summit in Paris.
The project, led by Albioma, involves the installation of a facility at Le Moule using solid recovered fuels, positioning waste recovery and renewable energy as important areas for future investment in Guadeloupe.
The project was among around 100 investment projects representing nearly €6 billion presented across France’s overseas territories during the October 1 investment gathering. The initiatives span energy, infrastructure, decarbonisation, waste recovery, tourism, agriculture and digital development.
For Guadeloupe, the proposed facility could strengthen the island’s efforts to develop local energy solutions while increasing the recovery of waste resources. It also highlights the growing interest of major investors in projects designed around the specific economic and environmental needs of overseas territories.
The announcement comes as Guadeloupe’s economy faces mixed conditions, with recent INSEE data showing a decline in overall economic activity during the second quarter, while hotel activity increased strongly, supported by visitors from mainland France.
The €100 million project therefore adds a significant new investment dimension to Guadeloupe’s economic outlook, particularly in the areas of energy transition, waste recovery and infrastructure development.
