ST. JOHN’S, Antigua and Barbuda — Antigua and Barbuda is preparing for a significant parliamentary sitting on September 18, 2026, with the Government expected to advance a package of legislation focused on public safety, law enforcement and justice reform.

The agenda includes the proposed Police Bill 2026, Fire and Rescue Service Bill 2026, Antigua and Barbuda Forensic Services Bill 2026 and Firearms (Amendment) Bill 2026. Parliament is also expected to consider amendments to magistrates’ procedures and a new Mental Health Care Bill 2026.

The legislative programme comes as the Gaston Browne administration faces continued public concern over firearm-related crime and serious offences. The Government has indicated that strengthening policing, forensic capabilities and the justice system is a priority.
