PORT OF SPAIN, Trinidad and Tobago — The Government of Trinidad and Tobago is strengthening its engagement with Scotiabank as it seeks to expand investment opportunities and build a more competitive business environment.
Finance Minister Davendranath Tancoo met with senior Scotiabank executives on August 12 for discussions focused on strengthening the relationship between the bank and the Government while exploring new market opportunities.
The discussions highlight the growing importance of collaboration between government and financial institutions in supporting business investment.
The Finance Ministry said stronger cooperation between Government, the financial sector and private businesses is important for unlocking investment and expanding economic opportunities.
For local companies, closer engagement with major financial institutions could potentially improve access to financing, investment networks and new commercial opportunities.
The initiative comes as Trinidad and Tobago continues efforts to strengthen economic resilience and diversify activity beyond traditional energy industries.
Banking-sector partnerships can also support businesses seeking capital for expansion, technology upgrades and new market development.
The Government’s latest engagement with Scotiabank therefore places financial-sector cooperation at the centre of its wider economic strategy.
Further discussions could help identify areas where banking services and private investment can support growth across Trinidad and Tobago.
The development comes as the country continues working to attract investment and strengthen confidence in its economy.
