Saint Kitts’ tourism industry is showing encouraging momentum in 2026, with 116,458 air arrivals recorded through August 31 and visitor spending on Visa cards exceeding US$34.5 million, according to figures shared by tourism officials.
The figures were highlighted during a Ministry of Tourism press conference on October 1, offering a snapshot of the sector’s contribution to the local economy. The spending total reflects Visa debit and credit card transactions only; purchases made with other card networks and cash are excluded.
Monthly arrivals also increased by 5.6%, rising from 12,649 visitors in July to 13,354 in August. The increase provided a positive close to the peak travel season and points to continued demand for the destination.
Tourism activity supports a wide network of local businesses, including hotels, restaurants, taxi operators, tour companies, retailers and excursion providers. Visitor spending can therefore have an impact beyond accommodation, helping circulate revenue across different parts of the economy.
As Saint Kitts and Nevis prepares for the 2026–2027 cruise and tourism season, officials are focusing on destination marketing and coordination with public- and private-sector partners. Maintaining visitor demand and encouraging travellers to spend with local businesses will remain important to the industry’s performance.
The latest figures offer a positive indicator for Saint Kitts’ tourism economy, although the Visa spending figure represents only one part of total visitor expenditure.
