Aruba Prime Minister Mike Eman has held talks with political leaders in Curaçao, placing stronger cooperation between the Dutch Caribbean islands at the centre of a high-level parliamentary meeting.
During his visit to Curaçao on October 12, Eman met Parliament President Fergino Brownbill and representatives of several political factions. Discussions covered Eman’s political career, his contribution to regional development and opportunities to deepen cooperation between Aruba and Curaçao. <Cite refs={["turn663935view0"]}/>
Curaçao’s parliamentary representatives highlighted the value of learning from experienced political leaders and maintaining dialogue despite differences between political parties. The discussions also explored how Aruba, Curaçao and Bonaire could exchange knowledge and experience to strengthen public leadership across the islands.
One proposal raised during the meeting was the creation of a non-partisan platform where experienced leaders could share political and administrative knowledge with emerging politicians and government officials. The idea was presented as a way to preserve institutional experience for future generations. <Cite refs={["turn663935view0"]}/>
The meeting comes as regional governments continue to face shared challenges that benefit from cooperation, including economic development, public administration and long-term planning.
For Aruba, closer political dialogue with Curaçao could help reinforce regional partnerships and create opportunities to share practical solutions across the Dutch Caribbean.
