PORT OF SPAIN, Trinidad and Tobago — Trinidad and Tobago has marked a new development in its industrial and transport sectors with the launch of four heavy-duty trucks powered entirely by methanol.
The vehicles were officially unveiled in San Fernando through a project involving Proman Trinidad and Dumore Enterprises Ltd. The trucks are reported to be the only 100% methanol-powered heavy-duty vehicles operating on public roads outside China.
The project highlights the potential for methanol as an alternative fuel for heavy transportation, while also creating opportunities for local businesses involved in energy, logistics and industrial services.
The launch comes as Trinidad and Tobago continues discussions around economic diversification and energy-sector innovation, with businesses exploring ways to use the country's established energy expertise in new applications.
The introduction of the trucks could also provide a practical platform for assessing methanol-powered transportation under local road and commercial conditions.
