PORT-AU-PRINCE, Haiti — Haiti’s national football team has entered a new chapter with the appointment of Spanish coach David Badía as head coach of the Grenadiers.

The appointment, announced on August 23, comes after Haiti’s participation in the 2026 FIFA World Cup, giving the national team a fresh opportunity to reorganise and prepare for the next international cycle.

Badía now faces the task of building on Haiti’s recent international progress while developing a competitive team for future tournaments.

The new coach will be expected to work with Haiti’s established international players while also identifying emerging talent capable of strengthening the national squad.

His appointment is likely to attract considerable attention from Haitian football supporters, particularly as the country looks to maintain the momentum generated by its return to the World Cup stage.

Youth development is also expected to remain an important part of Haiti’s football strategy, with the country’s U-14 and U-20 teams continuing to compete in regional competitions. Haiti’s U-14 side recently reached the final of the CFU Challenge Series after a 6–1 victory over the Dominican Republic.

The new coaching era therefore begins while Haiti’s wider football programme continues producing opportunities for younger players.

Badía’s immediate challenge will be to establish his tactical approach, strengthen squad depth and prepare the Grenadiers for their next competitive fixtures.

For Haitian football, the appointment represents more than a coaching change. It provides an opportunity to develop a longer-term national-team project and build a stronger pathway between youth football and the senior side.

Supporters will now be watching closely to see how Badía shapes the Grenadiers and whether the new era can deliver further international success for Haiti.
