A fatal stabbing in Albion, Corentyne, has left a 34-year-old fisherman dead, prompting a murder investigation by the Guyana Police Force.
The victim has been identified as Franklyn “Frank” or “Franky” Sauers, of Glasgow Housing Scheme. Police said Sauers was found inside a house at Albion Front on Sunday night suffering from stab wounds to his ribs and neck.
He was rushed to Port Mourant Public Hospital, but was pronounced dead on arrival.
Police have detained a 28-year-old fisherman from Albion Front in connection with the incident. According to investigators, the suspect was detained at the scene and remains in police custody as detectives work to establish what led to the stabbing.
The incident has renewed concern over violent crime in the Corentyne community, while investigators continue gathering evidence and information surrounding the circumstances of the death.
