WILLEMSTAD, Curaçao — Curaçao’s political agenda is turning toward the future of the island’s reform programme, with Parliament expected to consider whether cooperation under the Kingdom reform agreement should continue beyond March 2027.
The agreement forms part of the broader Country Package, established alongside Curaçao’s financial support and recovery arrangements with the Netherlands. The reforms cover areas including government administration, financial management, economic development and institutional strengthening.
The upcoming parliamentary consideration will focus on whether the existing cooperation framework should be extended after its current period ends.
The issue is significant for Curaçao’s government because continued reforms can affect public-sector management, economic policy and relations with the Netherlands within the Kingdom.
Parliamentary consideration would give lawmakers an opportunity to examine the proposed continuation and its implications for Curaçao.
The development is expected to keep Kingdom relations, government reform and financial oversight high on the island’s political agenda as the current agreement approaches its scheduled March 2027 conclusion.
