ST. GEORGE'S, Grenada — Grenada has launched a significant new Tourism and Health Programme in a move aimed at strengthening public health protections and safeguarding one of the country's most important economic sectors.

The initiative, introduced in partnership with regional health authorities, will enhance Grenada's ability to detect, monitor, and respond to health-related incidents affecting visitors and tourism operators. Officials say the programme includes improved surveillance systems, early-warning mechanisms, and stronger coordination between health and tourism stakeholders.

Health Minister Philip Telesford described the programme as a strategic investment in both public health and economic resilience, emphasizing the importance of protecting visitor confidence in the destination. Tourism Minister Adrian Thomas noted that the initiative forms part of a broader national strategy to build a safer and more competitive tourism industry.
