More than 100 people gathered in Bermuda for a Recovery Month breakfast focused on addiction recovery, community support and reducing stigma surrounding substance use.
The event, hosted by Focus Counselling Services at Pier Six, featured Bermudian criminologist and Oxford doctoral researcher Frankco Harris, who shared his personal recovery journey and spoke about the challenges and opportunities associated with overcoming addiction.
Held under the theme “Hope, healing and community,” the gathering brought together community leaders, government representatives, treatment providers, families and members of Bermuda’s recovery community.
Harris highlighted the importance of understanding the underlying needs that can contribute to substance use and emphasised that recovery is possible. Focus Counselling executive director Leslie Grant also stressed the importance of dignity and future opportunities for people in recovery.
