The Bahamas has claimed a historic regional golf title, with its 14-member team winning the 2026 Caribbean Golf Association Four-Ball Championship and ending Jamaica’s six-year reign.

Team Bahamas collected 88 points at the championship in the Turks and Caicos Islands, finishing ahead of Jamaica, which scored 71 points. Trinidad and Tobago placed third with 65 points, while the host territory finished fourth with 49.

The victory was built on consistent performances across several age divisions. Richard Gibson and Nolan Johnson won the men’s Mid-Amateur 35-and-over division, while Raymond Gibson and James Wallace captured the men’s Legends division for players aged 70 and over.

The Bahamian team also secured runner-up finishes in the men’s Super-Senior division and the Ladies 25-and-over category, demonstrating the depth of the national squad across different age groups.

Team manager Anthony Hinsey, who also serves as vice-president of the Bahamas Golf Federation, credited the players’ preparation and determination. The team trained intensively for six weeks before the competition and held the overall lead from the opening round through the finish.

The win marks a major milestone for Bahamian golf, giving the country its first overall team championship at the Caribbean Four-Ball event after previous near-misses.

The breakthrough victory strengthens the Bahamas’ standing in regional golf and provides fresh momentum for the country’s national golf programme.
