ST. JOHN’S, Antigua and Barbuda — Antigua and Barbuda’s vibrant entertainment scene is gaining international attention after the Antigua and Barbuda Tourism Authority brought the island’s Carnival spirit to Brooklyn, New York, ahead of the 59th annual West Indian Day Parade.
The September 7 celebration provided a major platform to showcase Antiguan music, Carnival traditions, mas, cultural performances and the island’s distinctive Caribbean identity to a large international audience.
The initiative forms part of a wider effort to promote Antigua and Barbuda as a destination where visitors can experience entertainment and culture alongside the country’s beaches and tourism attractions.
With Antigua Carnival having featured soca, calypso, steelpan, colourful masquerade and major street celebrations, the Brooklyn promotion gives local cultural traditions another opportunity to reach Caribbean communities and international travellers.
For Antiguan entertainers, cultural groups and the wider creative sector, international showcases like this could help strengthen diaspora engagement, cultural tourism and global interest in Antigua’s entertainment industry.
The campaign also keeps Antigua and Barbuda’s Carnival brand visible beyond the traditional summer festival season and positions its cultural entertainment as a major part of the country’s international tourism appeal.
