THE VALLEY, Anguilla — The Anguilla Government has extended electricity fuel-surcharge relief for another month, providing continued support to households and businesses facing elevated energy costs.

The relief keeps the fuel surcharge at EC$0.42 per kilowatt-hour for residents and businesses, while the rate for the accommodation sector remains capped at EC$0.65 per kWh. The government will cover the difference between the capped rates and the higher surcharge.

The Anguilla Electricity Company (ANGLEC) had maintained a fuel surcharge of EC$1.05 per kWh during September, reflecting higher fuel costs and continued volatility in global energy markets.

ANGLEC said current forecasts indicate that fuel prices could rise further and encouraged customers to continue using energy conservation and efficiency measures to help control electricity consumption and monthly bills.

The extension is particularly significant for Anguilla businesses and tourism operators, where electricity costs can directly affect operating expenses and pricing.

The government originally introduced the relief measures in response to rising international fuel costs and geopolitical uncertainty.
