PORTSMOUTH, Dominica — A new technology-driven entertainment event is set to bring competitive gaming and esports into the spotlight in Dominica this month.

The Portsmouth Bombers Football Club, in partnership with NSE Night Club, will host the Bombers FC EGame Challenge 2026 on August 22 at Benjamin Park. The tournament will feature EA SPORTS FC 26 and multiple gaming stations.

The event represents a growing connection between sports, technology and youth culture in Dominica.

The competition will feature five divisions — Under-13, Under-15, Under-18, Open Male and Open Female — giving gamers from different age groups an opportunity to compete.

Matches will be displayed on a giant outdoor LED screen, while music, food and entertainment will create a festival-style atmosphere around the competition.

Organisers say the event is intended to provide young people with another way to engage with football while introducing esports as an emerging digital industry.

For Dominica’s technology community, the initiative highlights the potential of esports to create new opportunities in gaming, digital skills, content creation and entertainment.

The EC$25 registration fee is designed to keep participation accessible, while prizes are expected to add a competitive element to the tournament.

Organisers are also hoping the EGame Challenge can develop into an annual esports event in Dominica.

The August 22 tournament could therefore become an important early step in expanding the island’s local esports and gaming culture.
