ST. JOHN’S, Antigua and Barbuda — Antigua and Barbuda’s entertainment landscape is preparing for a major new addition as the National Performing Arts Centre takes shape in the former Deluxe Cinema building.
Prime Minister Gaston Browne has highlighted the project as a significant public investment, saying the property has been transformed from an $11 million acquisition into an asset now valued at approximately $25 million. He said much of the refurbishment has been supported through grant funding.
Recent footage from inside the facility shows auditorium seating installed while finishing work continues. The centre is being developed to host live performances, theatrical productions, cultural events, ceremonies and other major national occasions.
The project could give Antigua and Barbuda’s artists, performers and cultural organisations a modern venue for local productions while strengthening the country’s growing creative and entertainment sector.
With construction work progressing, attention is now turning to the centre’s eventual opening and the new opportunities it could create for Antigua’s performing arts community.
